Pre-XMas Shopping

Today we are going to place a big dent in our shopping list. We are going to be practical and work around Aedon's schedule, but I have high hopes to get things done.

I had a great night with my sweet last night. We sat around and watched the insult comic dog an laughed our butts off. It was great (for me to POOP on).

Had to talk to the neighbors last night about noise level. I don't enjoy doing it, but I haven't done it often (twice in three years). They are good folk, just have very different priorities than we do.

Today will be a busy day. Next week will be busy, too. Still need to figure out when mom and the family is coming down and figure out a menu for the event (its just about fleshed out too, honestly).

A little bit dissappointed.

I am a little bit disappointed with my bonus. Its not much less, but it is less. I would have been bleh about getting the same amount, but this actually disappoints.

I still got my time off though. I still have my health and my family. I still have need for nothing (want is always another matter).

I guess its times like this where you just knuckle under and grit your teeth and say that x-mas is going to be good. I will not allow them to spoil it for us. I just won't. I have family coming in and I have plenty of time to recharge the ole battery.

Tomorrow we will still have enough to get presents for all the folks we need to and we will still have some left over for Aedon and ourselves. It won't be an extravagent x-mas, but I don't really care...we have it better than most and next year I will work even harder to make it better than this.

Awesome

Aedon slept for over 4 hours last night. Woke up and fed her. She is sleeping past the 3 hour mark. It feels almost like a guilty pleasure to sleep that many hours back to back.

We started her on a formula at night that is designed to be easier to break down and digest. I am hoping this was the answer for her extended sleep and not because she is getting sick (not sure that she is, just that she has had diahrea(sp) for almost a day now.

This was worth wrting down and I am hoping that its is the growing trend. If Aedon starts sleeping in 4 hours chunks, we can start slowly reintroducing some of the hobbies we used to have...and that is a very encouraging thought...almost as encouraging as sleeping 6-8 hours every night....

Rio Bravo, Ninja Yelps, and other craziness

Saturday was an interesting day. Aedon slept in three hour shift during the day, freeing Angel and I up for some us time in the morning, some clean up the house time in the afternoon, and some visit time in the late afternoon/early evening.

Andrew and Kevin popped by to drop off some Western Flicks. It was a relaxing day, so we invited them to hang out movie marathon style spontaneously. It was kinda nice. We watched 'For a Few Dollars More' and 'Rio Bravo' while snacking on popcorn and discussing Aedon's growth, game mechanics, character ideas, and about recent events.

Aedon cried a few times during the day and while the guys were over. I'd get up to go an look at her and I woould get into her room and she was fast asleep. I would walk back and a bit later it would happen again. I'm not talking whimpers but full out 'Hey, I am getting up here' noises...and all ninja like she would be back into her restful sleep before I could see if she was actually bothered or not. I think she is relaed to the peguin that turns on and off the light in the refrigerator.

Budgeting has gotten creative again. It's kind of interesting when you get to the point where you evaluate what food you need more than others. Animal feed got downgraded by a few dollars and lunches are pretty much going to be sammiches or what ever is left over from the night before...ready made soups/jello might come back next month =P Milk, however, has made a startling come back as we went from having .5 gallons in the fridge to an average of 2 gallons most of the time. Osteoporosis(sp) shall not pass!!!

Boards are coming along well. Going to spend some of today looking for info on cattle barons, faction defination, area politic studies, and then (if I have time) the Indian Presence during the late 1880s. I want to study a little on the religion in the area before talking Shamanism with Joe so that I can give that aspect of my game a definative flavor.

I think I hear a ninja, so I going to post more later.

Is it just me...

...or does anyone else in the world find it disturbing how familliar people on the internet are with mind illnesses/insanities? I am not talking in the 'oh, I enjoy reading about those' kind of way. It more like 'oh, I just finished taking my pills for that' kinda way.

Too much time on the keyboard. I think a healthy dose of sunshine works miracles if people will let it. Heck, I know when Angel and I feel comfortable enough with Aedon to start going to the park our quality of outlook will improve (from joking cynical to joking in earnest =P).

Long Nights, Short Days

Not sure how Angel does it, but she is on like hour 4 of sleep right now out of two days. I am a glutton with nearly 10 in the same time frame.

Really feel guilty about it, but there isn't much more I can do...

Doc says that it will prolly be like this for about a month more, then Aedon will settle to 3-4 sleep shifts. Having a good 6 hours in a row seems like some kind of unimaginable boon. It's amazing how little sleep people can operate on. It's even more amazing that Angel and I seem to be able to keep at least some measure of humor about it.

Think Lil' Miss is stirring from the Land O' Nod.

If the soul has windows;

then these are verdant, stained glass. There is nothing wrong with being opaque; I have need for only a few to see me clearly.

A true journal is one that is seldom shared. It is true that if you write something down, then invariably you want someone to read it. Thus this journal's birth.
